The Rising Cock…

Hello friends! Yesterday we took a very long train ride to Lagos, which is on the southern coast on Portugal. It took us about 8 hours to finally get here when it probably should’ve only taken 4… We are still figuring things out….

Now about the title of this post… That would be the name of our hostel. Let me tell you, that made it really hard to get help finding the place. “Hey do you know where the rising cock is?” is probably the most embarrassing thing you can ask a stranger. The worst part is, the guy at the train station who helped us find it spoke barely any English and didn’t understand exactly what rising cock meant.. Which is a good thing in a way but also meant he said it over and over and OVER again not realizing what he was saying. Not gonna lie, it was pretty funny. Poor guy.

We took a taxi there and got all settled in before heading out for dinner. We had our first real meal at a restaurant which was awesome. I didn’t enjoy my food too much but I was just glad to be eating a real and filling meal. Then it was time for the big pub crawl of the party hostel. I’m not a big drinker, I get sick every time I drink, so this night was not my favourite but it was interesting nonetheless. After some drinking games, the 11 of us in total staying at the hostel (off-season y’all) headed out to check out the bars of Lagos.

It was pretty lively and there were some cute bars to visit, but given that everyone except for me was out of their minds drunk, I didn’t have the best time. I went home early and woke up to hear all the stories from the night before. For the party people, I would definitely recommend checking this place out. It’s name speaks for itself, this place is for crazy people who like going out and having a good time. If, like me, you aren’t a party person, well you probably shouldn’t go to a party hostel. Duh. I learned that the hard way.

This morning we got crepes at the hostel and it was the first real breakfast I’ve had here. It was AWESOME.

Today we are going to walk along the beach and go on a tour of the big rock caves in the ocean. You’ll hear about that tomorrow! Tata for now!
