Last day in Carvoeiro
Hi friends! So I know I said Lagos was my favourite place so far but I was slightly mistaken. I still think it was gorgeous, but Carvoeiro has my heart! It is a quaint beach town and though it’s pretty touristy, it’s beaches and rock caves are breathtaking and the town is lively and bright. It’s definitely an older crowd here, and the town isn’t very busy at night, but that doesn’t matter much when you’re in a place as beautiful as this!
Today, we went to the beach across from our room… We can see it right out our window and it’s just a quick 2 minute walk away. I don’t know how we got so lucky with this place! It is so close to all the restaurants and shops and also right on the water. It’s crazy to me that young backpackers on a budget can afford something like this. After the beach we bought gelato (I had Bueno gelato.. SO GOOD) and walked along the boardwalk that follows the coast for about a kilometre. It was stunning! No matter how many rock caves I see, it never ceases to amaze me. I can’t believe places this beautiful exist! You go, Mother Nature!!! Pictures simply don’t do it justice, but I will include some anyway so you can have an idea.
We then took a cab to Benagil beach where we were hoping to go on a boat tour of the Benagil cave (look it up, it is unreal) but it was very expensive and we decided to opt out. We still laid on the beach and tanned for a little before heading back to our room.
We stayed in for the night and got dinner from a supermarket since we learned last night that we can’t really afford to indulge at the nearby restaurants. It was a very relaxed rest of the night spent trying to organize some plans for the trip… Actually not so relaxing, travelling is stressful and figuring out how you’re gonna get to your next destination can be challenging. We probably could’ve been a little more prepared but eh, what can ya do!
That’s all for today! Tomorrow we will (hopefully) arrive in Seville, Spain if all goes well… I’m sad to be leaving beautiful Portugal, I loved it here and it’s weird to think that I may never be here again… And if I am, it wouldn’t be for a very, very long time… That being said, this is just the beginning of a long journey and I’m ready for a new adventure!
